BOTOX® / Neuromodulators

BOTOX® is the brand name of an injectable neuromodulating medication that temporarily relaxes and weakens specific muscles. Other injectable neuromodulators include Xeomin®, Jeuveau®, and Dysport®.  Andromeda Aesthetics is here to provide local BOTOX® and neuromodulator treatments for Smith Mountain Lake, Moneta, Hardy, Rocky Mount, and Franklin/Bedford Counties.

All neuromodulators are a form of Botulinum Toxin (Type A) and when precisely placed, restrict muscle movements that lead to facial wrinkles. Neuromodulators are also referred to as "wrinkle relaxing injections" due to their cosmetic effect.

Neuromodulator injections are safe and approved by the FDA for cosmetic use. They are quick, painless procedures with no "downtime" or recovery. They are also America's #1 non-surgical cosmetic treatment due to their effectiveness and high patient satisfaction. After injection, muscular-weakening effects gradually take place over 14 days with most patients noticing an effect within a week. Duration is dependent on many factors but generally last about 3 months. Patients should plan on returning for treatment every 3-4 months if they wish to maintain their cosmetic results.

Side effects are rare but may include bruising or temporary undesired results. During your free consultation, you will receive extensive education on potential risks or side effects prior to treatment so that you may make an informed decision.

Andromeda Aesthetics believes that the best cosmetic treatments are undetectable and strive to provide natural results that do not look "frozen" or overdone. Every treatment is customized for each patient based on aesthetic goals, but common areas that can be treated with BOTOX® and neuromodulators include:

  • Forehead

  • Frown lines / "11's" between the eyebrows

  • Crows feet

  • Gummy smiles

  • Downturned mouth corners / "marionette lines"

  • Bumpy chin

  • Masseter hypertrophy

  • "Microtox" for pore reduction

The Perfect Derma™ Peel

Chemical peels are an easy way to exfoliate old skin cells that contribute to a dull or tired complexion. By safely removing the outer layer of skin cells, fine lines are softened, hyperpigmentation is reduced, and a more youthful, rejuvenated complexion is revealed.

Andromeda Aesthetics is pleased to offer The Perfect Derma™ Peel, the most advanced medium-depth peel available. With a patented blend of trichloroacetic acid (TCA),  retinoic acid, salicylic acid,  kojic acid, phenol, glutathione and Vitamin C, The Perfect Derma™ Peel is able to improve the overall clarity, tone and texture of the skin virtually painlessly and without the discomfort of other medium-depth chemical peels.

The Perfect Derma™ Peel is the only peel that includes the powerful anti-oxidant Glutathione, which lightens and brightens the skin, slows down the aging process and helps prevent wrinkles. It is appropriate for all skin types (Fitzpatrick 1-6) and is especially good at reducing hyperpigmentation or melasma when used as a series. Patients struggling with acne may find The Perfect Derma Peel useful for controlling the breakouts and reducing the appearance of scarring.

Peel application takes less than 30 minutes with patients looking reddened, like a sunburn immediately afterwards. Peeling in sheets begins within 3 days and is generally completed by day 6-7, with the complexion now appearing glowing and rejuvenated.

Come to Andromeda Aesthetics for your free consultation to discuss skin concerns and learn if the The Perfect Derma Peel is appropriate for you.

Laser Services

Our Spectrum laser platform can provide a variety of treatments with a variety of wavelengths, including

  • 810nm Diode for Laser Hair Reduction

  • Erbium:YAG for Skin Resurfacing/laser peel

  • Q-Switched YAG for Tattoo Removal

  • Long Pulsed YAG for Capillary Ablation

  • Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) for Photofacial/non-ablative skin rejuvenation

Laser Hair Reduction

The Spectrum 810nm diode laser will reduce and may permanently remove unwanted body hair. Melanin is what gives our hair color, and is what the laser light targets. When the light enters the follicle it is converted to heat energy that destroys/inactivates the hair follicle, preventing the hair from growing again.

There are 3 stages of hair growth: Anagen (active growth), Catagen (transition from active to resting), and Telogen (resting). In order for laser hair treatments to be effective hair must be in the active growth phase (anagen). Individual hairs are in different stages of growth at any given time, multiple laser treatments are required to target them when they are in the Anagen stage. This is the reason that multiple laser treatments are required to target all of them, and why each treatment must be spaced out.

Each treatment is spaced between 4-6 weeks and a minimum of 6 treatments is recommended. Hair removal is not 100% permanent because of the roles hormones play in hair growth cycling. Hair may come out of being dormant after several years and will need to be treated.

Laser Skin Resurfacing/Laser Peel

Laser resurfacing is accomplished by removing (ablating) the epidermis and creating controlled injury to the dermis. The initial laser resurfacing provides superficial skin renewal while the dermis produces collagen and elastin in the response to the injury. The immediate result is of a refreshed complexion while softening of lines and wrinkles will be apparent 4-6 weeks later.

We can customize the aggressiveness of the treatment – more aggressive treatments provide the most dermal restructuring to help deeper wrinkles and skin texture concerns. You can expect 3-7 days of social downtime depending on how aggressive of a treatment you desire. Visible results will be present after only one treatment, though further sessions will further maximize outcomes. It’s a great stack with RF microneedling for synergistic results.

Tattoo Removal

Using our Q-switched laser, we provide extremely short pulses of high energy laser light. The light is absorbed by the particles of the tattoo pigment but doesn’t get absorbed by the surrounding skin. The tattoo pigment heats up and shatters into smaller particles. The smaller particles make it easier for your body’s own cells to flush away the shattered pigments. Tattoo removal takes multiple sessions due to the healing process that must occur. Older, darker tattoos are generally more easy to remove but expect 6-8 sessions spaced 8 weeks apart for full treatment.

Radiofrequency (RF) Microneedling

Pixel8 RF microneedling combines two technologies commonly used for skin rejuvenation, radiofrequency (RF) and skin needling. RF technology relies on the resistance within the skin itself to convert RF energy into heat (thermal energy). This thermal energy causes collagen contraction and stimulation of collagen making cells (fibroblasts) to produce more collagen. Traditional skin microneedling causes physical trauma to the skin and through stimulation of the body’s own wound healing response also stimulates fibroblasts to produce more collagen. When combined, fractionated RF microneedling gives enhanced results than could not be achieved with either technology alone.

All of this can pave the way for a complexion that’s a lot softer and more resilient. If you want the surface of your skin to be a lot smoother and firmer, then this treatment may be just right for you. Pixel8 RF causes hemostasis and coagulation, which activates the manufacturing of collagen, to help make the skin firmer. The Pixel8 microneedling technology helps with fine lines, enlarged pores, wrinkles, acne scars, skin tightening, and stretch marks. The result is a nearly painless procedure that requires little to no downtime and can greatly improve wrinkling, scars, and skin laxity.
