Turning back the clock on sun damage and signs of aging with chemical peel service

The sky’s the limit when it comes to what chemical peels can do for your skin at the office of Andromeda Aesthetics in Moneta, Virginia.

What are chemical peels?

The chemical peel is an in-office cosmetic procedure. It involves applying a solution or formulation packed with skin-loving ingredients to damaged areas of the face and body, such as the backs of the hands. The specific ingredients used are customized to your needs and characteristics, such as your skin type. Some peels penetrate more deeply into the skin than others, but all peels largely exfoliate or remove the outermost layer of skin. This process helps bring fresh, undamaged skin cells to the surface. The skin that grows back looks and feels healthier and more radiant.

What types of peels do you offer?

Rachel Moline Blankenship and our team are pleased to offer The Perfect Derma™ Peel. This is the only peel formulated with glutathione, a powerhouse antioxidant proven to brighten and lighten blotchy, mottled skin. It also helps to slow the aging process and prevent wrinkles.

Because it’s so powerful, will this peel hurt?

No. That’s one of the beautiful things about The Perfect Derma™. It improves tone, softness, and overall skin quality without the pain that is typically associated with stronger, medium-depth peels. Most of our patients describe the sensation of the peel as a minor tingling that goes away within 30 to 60 seconds. We use cooling to ensure utmost comfort as this unique blend of glutathione, Vitamin C, phenol, and acids are applied to damaged skin.

What does it look and feel like afterward?

The idea is to encourage skin peeling. This process of resurfacing kickstarts cell turnover. It simply takes longer as we age for new cells to move their way up through the layers of the skin. Slow turnover results in a buildup of old and dead cells on the skin’s surface, making it appear aged, damaged, and unhealthy. Peeling largely appears as redness and flakes. This is actually a good thing. The dead and old cells are being shed, making way for new, vibrant ones. Also, if you are trying to treat dark spots, do not panic if they appear darker at first. This is simply part of the process. The spotted areas that have been treated will gradually slough off. For most patients, such flaking and shedding will be done within a week post-peel.

Can I get back to my normal activities afterward?

Yes. Your friends at Andromeda Aesthetics only ask that you avoid overheating. Rises in body temperature can lead to irritation, such as rashes and blisters, which interfere with healing. Our team in Moneta, VA, will provide clear and detailed instructions on aftercare.
