Injecting volume and radiance into sunken, saggy, and sallow skin with dermal fillers
Injectable treatments play a crucial role at Andromeda Aesthetics in Moneta, Virginia. Rachel Moline Blankenship offers a comprehensive range of aesthetic services, including dermal fillers. These treatments involve gentle and precise injections designed to enhance the appearance of the face and neck.
What are dermal fillers?
Aside from being injectable, dermal or soft tissue fillers work by adding volume to specific points of the face that could use it the most. Think of your face as a balloon to better understand how they work. When a balloon is full of air, its surface is smooth, and its contours are nice and defined. However, as air is released from the balloon, it creases along with “excess” form. The balloon loses its nice, firm, structured shape. The same is true of your face. With time and changes that occur deep within the tissues, a formerly defined and youthful shape now makes way for hollows, sunken areas, laxity or sagging, and pronounced wrinkles and folds. These effects can make you look older than your years and far older than you feel. By restoring youthful volume with fillers, we can smooth or soften creases, fill in sunken areas, and elevate lax or fallen tissues.
Are fillers Botox®?
No. While Botox® and fillers are all injectable, the former option belongs to a category of cosmetic treatments called “neurotoxins” or “neuromodulators.” They work by inhibiting the muscle contractions that lead to the development or progression of expression lines, like crow’s feet and frown lines. Dermal fillers add volume and beneficial structural components to the face and neck areas that need it most. Some fillers may even be used on different parts of the body, such as the backs of the hands. Additionally, still other filler products are also “collagen stimulators” or “biostimulators.” They reverse sagging, scarring, and more by replenishing the natural firming collagen protein lost as we age.
What products do you use?
Some of the most popular and predictable products are formulated with a moisture-loving humectant substance called HA. Like collagen, HA is produced by our bodies naturally. It is also produced in smaller quantities as the years pass. These declines generally start at around the age of 25. By injecting HA filler into the lips, folds around the mouth, and other areas, the product physically “fills in” the deflated or depressed sites while also drawing water to enhance the filler effect further. These fillers are also considered to be particularly safe because HA is a natural, biocompatible substance. The risk of adverse effects, which may have been associated with earlier-generation synthetic or donor material fillers, is minimized. We like the RHA® Collection of fillers by Teoxane.
Why do you use RHA® fillers?
These fillers are engineered with a unique type of HA – Resilient Hyaluronic Acid®. This form of HA most closely mimics the viscous substance your body makes naturally. So, these fillers support results that look natural and like you, only better, healthier, and rested. True to their name, they are also formulated to be resilient. They account for numerous dynamic facial micromovements, allowing your skin to bounce back to its natural shape after it is stretched. Treatment results look appealing, whether your face is at rest or not.
How do you use RHA® fillers?
RHA Redensity™ is approved for use on the delicate lines and folds around the lips. We use RHA® 2 and RHA® 3 for lip enhancement, while RHA® 4 is appropriate for the cheeks and for more severe signs of aging, such as deeper lines and wrinkles.
How long do these fillers last?
For HA fillers in general, results typically last anywhere from three to six months. However, the makers of RHA® fillers, Revance Aesthetics, report that these products can last for up to 15 months (for wrinkles) and up to 12 months (for vertical ‘lipstick’ or ‘smoker’s’ lines). For instance, one-half and two-thirds of participants in a study still enjoyed results from treatment to boost lip fullness and soften lip lines, respectively, one year later.
Do you offer biostimulators, too?
Andromeda Aesthetics is pleased to offer a hyperdiluted form of Radiesse®. This filler is formulated with CaHa, which stands for calcium hydroxylapatite. A highly tissue-compatible material, CaHA is similar to minerals found naturally in our bones. It and other collagen stimulators are associated with particularly “durable” results because they do not just “fill in,” but they also trigger the production of fresh collagen deep within the skin. As more collagen is produced, the results from treatment only get better gradually, and they largely persist for up to 18 months. By diluting Radiesse, Rachel and our team render a formulation that spreads evenly to support subtle, soft, and natural results. It may be suitable for individuals who require extra firming after significant weight loss.
