Give your lips a lift that complements your unique features with nonsurgical fillers
At Andromeda Aesthetics, Rachel Moline Blankenship and our Moneta, Virginia team account for your unique needs, unique characteristics, personal goals, and more when recommending cosmetic services. We appreciate that not all patients want to enlarge their lips. You may be among those individuals just looking for a subtle boost or enhanced definition to the borders of the lips. Whatever the case may be, the lip filler service is perfectly customized to you and supports natural-looking results that align with your goals.
What do you mean by “fillers”?
Fillers are not any one product or thing. They are a category of aesthetic procedures. Fillers are formulated with ingredients designed to improve the appearance of your skin. While the type of filler can vary, all such products work in the same way. They are injected into specific areas that have sustained volume loss. By replacing lost volume, they “fill in” these sunken, hollow, depressed, scarred, and lined areas.
What type of filler do you use for the lips?
Hyaluronic acid fillers are common and popular because HA is highly biocompatible. It is so compatible with biological/natural tissues, as our bodies make HA. So, HA-based products are appealing due to their safety profile. Using such natural or biocompatible ingredients helps minimize the risk of adverse reactions to the filler. Also, HA is a particularly beneficial skin booster. This substance is a humectant that binds to and attracts water, moisturizing the skin. Since HA can retain 1,000 times its weight in water, fillers made from it help to lock in moisture while also having a plumping and smoothing effect.
What can HA fillers do for my lips?
Rachel has successfully and naturally added volume to naturally small or deflated lips. But that’s not all. We can also apply filler to correct asymmetry/other imbalances in the appearance of the lips. By lifting the corners of the mouth, you no longer look like you are perpetually frowning or smirking. By enhancing the borders of the lips, we support a dramatic yet natural improvement in the appearance of a pout that may have faded into the background over time and with the aging process. We can even use fillers to soften lip lines!
How do you apply lip filler?
We appreciate that the lips are delicate and may be particularly sensitive. For this reason, a topical numbing cream may be incorporated into your treatment. Many HA-based fillers are already formulated with lidocaine to ensure your comfort. Like fillers applied to other parts of the face or body, lip fillers are injected precisely by one of our skilled professionals. They are applied to targeted points of the lip area. We never inject too much or too little. Our injections are “just right,” so you get natural results and don’t experience that dreaded puffy, overinflated look. With that said, there may be some swelling initially. Do not be alarmed. This is a common side effect that subsides as your lips heal.
Our patients love seeing visible improvement immediately with dermal/soft tissue fillers. These results can last up to 15 months. Some fillers are more “durable” than others. During a free consultation, Rachel will evaluate your concerns and work with you to determine the best treatment option to meet and exceed your goals.
